The metropolitan region of São Paulo has different services provided by NGOs that allow the population to adopt dogs and cats. These institutions seek to give the animals a new owner and, at the same time, favor those interested, who gain a new companion. The act also ends up supporting the work of NGOs, often voluntary, in the mission of taking animals off the streets. THE R7 prepared a list of services and details of how they work. See below:
City Adoption Center for Dogs and Cats
The Municipal Center for the Adoption of Dogs and Cats, managed by Cosap (Coordination of Health and Protection of Domestic Animals), had stopped face-to-face visits. However, with the advances in vaccination against Covid-19, the SMS (Municipal Health Department) has again held adoption events. Cão Sem Dono is an NGO born from a dream of the organization’s president, in 2005. Currently, the NGO maintains two shelters in Itapecerica da Serra, in Greater São Paulo, which together have 450 animals. Donations are made to locations that are up to 25 kilometers away from the Center of São Paulo, unless the interested party attends in person

To adopt it is necessary to be over 21 years old, present RG and CPF, in addition to proof of address. It is also necessary to sign an adoption term taking responsibility for the animal indefinitely, that is, until the end of its life, and undergo an interview. United Scrooge Brazil
In 2015, Patinhas Unidas was formalized as an institution. As they do not have their own shelter, under the care of Patinhas, after the rescue, the dogs are relocated to temporary homes, after being vaccinated and neutered for adoption. To adopt, it is necessary to follow some rules: sign a term of responsibility, be over 21 years of age, present RG, CPF and proof of residence and contribute R$ 150, which will be reverted to the NGO. Since 2013, Adote um Gatinho has been looking for homes for abandoned cats throughout the Greater São Paulo region. In addition to rescuing, the institution takes care of all injuries that the kittens can get and spays them to donate them.

The NGO was founded in 2007 and today has two offices, one in São Paulo and another in Nova Friburgo (RJ), with the capacity to host more than 220 animals.
