The Federal University of Sergipe signed another commitment with the Fundação de Cultura e Arte Aperipê de Sergipe (Funcap) this Wednesday morning, 6th. This time, through the university, the community of the municipality of São Cristóvão and tourists will be able to access a collection on the history of the state.
Editora UFS donated 763 books to the Historical Museum of Sergipe and a library is being structured for public consultation of the works. For the dean of UFS, Valter Santana, the action strengthens the history of partnerships between the institutions.
“It’s another action that makes us very happy because it is the result of the university’s approach to important partners, with a view to meeting society’s aspirations. Here, we make room for the works published by Editora UFS and for society to come to appreciate it, promoting cultural diffusion. It is UFS giving its contribution and publicizing its own works”, says Valter.
“These are bodies concerned with culture and with the strengthening of Sergipe’s identity. We already have an important institutional relationship that is further strengthened with these more than 700 works by researchers, professors and society itself that were able to publish their books through Editora UFS”, comments the director-president of Funcap, Conceição Vieira.
The director of Publishing, Institutional Communication and Audiovisual Production at UFS, Maíra Bittencourt, highlights the possibility of expanding knowledge through donations. “We have been thinking more and more, as Editora UFS, about making knowledge leave the university and become public. So, this action of taking the university’s books, which are produced with such zeal, both by researchers and by the Editorial Board, is something very relevant. In this way, we manage to give vent and visibility to the works in the place they should be: with readers who want to consume this information to make this knowledge reach various spaces”.
In addition to the 763 works already delivered, UFS intends to expand and donate another 237 books to the collection of the Historical Museum of Sergipe, according to the vice-rector of UFS, Rosalvo Ferreira. “We are dealing with an institutional relationship and UFS has a collection of exceptional quality that needs to be disclosed. This interaction with the historical museum and with Funcap will undoubtedly lead to a greater arrival of our material produced in public and private schools. In the case of this partnership, today we donated 763 volumes and we will reach 1,000 units to meet the demands and interest of the community”.
Rosângela Reis, coordinator of the museum, participated from the beginning of the donation process. “It’s an opportunity for both the writers and the museum, because the space serves as an education platform, opening up research that is sometimes inaccessible to the public. We already had a collection, but this donation from the university adds a lot to the structuring and opening of the library to society. The museum will no longer be just a point of contemplation, but also of research”.
UFS TV antenna installation
During the event, a historic partnership was also signed for the university. Another technical cooperation agreement was signed to allow the installation of the UFS TV antenna in the physical space of TV Aperipê, in addition to the use of the transmission tower to expand the signal of the university channel.
For the coordinator of TV UFS, Marcos Cardoso, this is the confirmation of an old dream. “Today TV UFS took an important step. This cooperation with the state, through the Aperipê Foundation, to allow the use of the Aperipê TV tower and the installation of the UFS TV antenna, came at the right time due to the scarcity of time and resources. We are even running to install the antenna now in May and instantly put our TV on the air”.
On the other hand, the university will provide trainees in the area of communication who can work in the journalistic routines of Aperipê, contributing to the practical side of training these young people.
“The emergence of new job markets for professionals who are still attending university banks is very important. Every time a partnership like this is signed, I think it brings a new perspective in opening up these possibilities so that each graduate can leave the Federal University of Sergipe and apply knowledge in practice, in this noble and exciting profession that is communication” , highlights the director of broadcasting at Funcap, Carlos Batalha.
