The great Elvis Presley will be resurrected at the Cannes Film Festival – Film and TV – Culture

The film, which will be presented at the new edition of the Cannes Film Festival (from May 17 to 22), features Austin Butler in the lead role and Tom Hanks, who has become the controversial delatist manager: ‘Colonel’ Tom Parker.

Precisely, the plot addresses the complex relationship between Presley and Parker over more than 20 years, from Presley’s ascension (…) to his unprecedented star status, while the United States is going through enormous socio-cultural changes. and lose their innocence.

Baz Luhrman, loved and hated for the intense pace of his films and an overflowing, colorful aesthetic, was catapulted to stardom at Cannes when he presented Strictly Ballroom in the Un Certain Regard section in 1992. Four years later he made an impact with his contemporary version of Romeo and Julieta and is recognized as the only director to have opened the Festival twice, with Moulin Rouge in 2001 and Gatsby in 2013. Elvis will premiere on June 22.
