Loss of appetite, sneezing, night sweats, itchy throat sensation, tiredness and elevated heart rate in infected children are some of the symptoms of the strain.iStock

The campaign promoted by the Ministry of Health is divided into two stages. Elderly and healthcare professionals should be vaccinated between April 4 and May 2.
In the second stage, it will be the turn of children aged between 6 months and up to 5 years of age (4 years, 11 months and 29 days), pregnant and postpartum women, people with comorbidities and permanent disabilities, indigenous peoples and professionals who are most at risk. , such as teachers, truck drivers and security forces.
flu vaccination
The trivalent vaccine, manufactured by the Butantan Institute, offers protection against three strains of the influenza virus, H1N1, type B and H3N2, responsible for the flu outbreak earlier this year.
Infectologist Ana Helena Germoglio clarifies that even people vaccinated against the flu for less than a year should take the new dose to protect themselves against emerging variants of the virus.
“The vaccine distributed this year contains different strains from the previous formulation, increasing the protection of this population”, explains the specialist.
Children who have already received at least one dose of influenza vaccine in their lifetime in previous years should only get one dose in 2022. Those who will be vaccinated for the first time will get two doses, with the second one scheduled 30 days after the vaccination. first dose.
measles vaccination
The measles vaccine will be given exclusively to children and health workers – they will be able to receive a dose regardless of their vaccination status, that is, even if they do not remember whether they had the vaccine in childhood.
Children should receive, on the occasion of the campaign, a dose of the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps and rubella), regardless of their vaccination status.
“Measles is a disease that had been eliminated from the Americas, but we had two outbreaks, in 2016 and 2018, and we lost the disease-free country certificate due to low vaccination coverage. The effectiveness of vaccines is over 95%, with protection for life after two doses”, says the director of the Brazilian Society of Immunizations (SBIm), Renato Kfouri.
